Tandem Team Locator

One of the questions we get most often, both from our customers and from other off-road tandem enthusiasts, is "How can we find others in the area that ride tandem mountain bikes?" or "are there other tandems in this area?" Many teams are looking for someone to ride with, and others are interested in our little niche of cycling, and want to see a real tandem mountain bike in action. MTBTandems.com does not share specific customer information or locations, but since mtb tandeming is too much fun NOT to share, here's a place where YOU can connect with other like-minded folks in your area!

Name: Joe and Renée

Geographic area: Fort Knox, Kentucky, USA area

Type of riding: We try to vary the type of riding we do.  When we have been off of the bike for awhile we will ride the trail at Freeman Lake in Elizabethtown to get coordinated again.  It is a smooth 5-mile loop around the lake.  Otter Creek Park (just north of Fort Knox) is probably the best local trail system we ride.  It has a wide range of terrain and gets somewhat technical in places.

Fitness and skill level: We have improved a lot over the last year.  We have entered a local cross-country race twice and have had fun with that.  I would say we are average on skills and fitness.

We ride an Ellsworth Witness – love it.

Name: Greg & Pam

Geographic Location: Situated on the South Coast of South Africa on the "Garden Route" in George. Between Knysna and Mossel Bay. The world famous ABSA CAPE EPIC mountain bike race goes through this region to Cape Town. In our area are long undulating "desert roads" in the Karoo area just over the mountain, challenging in the summer with temps reaching 40 degrees C. On the coast are forest routes, cool in the hot summer. Some very challenging tandem routes but "do-able ". A great destination to visit and very popular with overseas visitors.

Mountain biking as such is very popular in SA but MTB Tandem something new. I know of about 3 tandem teams that race in our area and I am talking the province of Western Cape. In the Gauteng region are a few more but in general not as popular as in the USA.
